| {1} north signed on St. John St in Portland.
Clicking this thumbnail opens a separate page dedicated to this phenomenon.
| [26] south, East Deering, Portland: 2005-10-2x.
Ooh, trippy. US-1 starts a block to the right as it ends a short multiplex with (295). 5 bonus points for the (95) trailblazer in place of (295) - unless it's just something else in need of a [TO]. ;P
| [88] north, Yarmouth: 2005-11-21.
NOT US-1! At the intersection of East Main St and Spring St IIRC. Dig the shrunken US route and interstate shields. I've seen these popping up all over the greater Portland area...
| {1} -> (295) south ramp, Yarmouth: 2005-11-12.
This is the only such sign I've seen that doesn't say "PROHIBITED ON THIS HIGHWAY". It wasn't changed when the highway was redesignated (295) in 2004.
| [24] north, Topsham: 2006-04-02.
TO 196! TO, I say! | |
| Not really signage, but I didnae know where else to put it.
This is more of a miscellaneous page than anywhere else... Construction of the new onramp at Exit 3, as seen from Broadway & Westbrook St, So. Portland. 2007-01-06
| Lewiston, May 2006
Note the JCT plate at the actual beginning of 196 in the background.
| A couple snaps from my Westbrook shoot. Left: Main Street at the Westbrook Arterial. Right: The Westbrook Arterial at William Clarke Drive. | ||
| Some stuff around Portland that's not [22]...
Left: Congress St approaching the Marston St intersection. Center: At the intersection. This was the turnaround to access [22] west from (295) before the WBA ghost ramps were opened to traffic. Right: On Marston St. [22] runs along Park Ave, starting at St. John St -- not here. Thompsons Point Rd & the Portland Connector.
Left; Center: A couple views. I might Photochop these together into one image... Right: NW-bound Connector signed as [22]. Yeah, and why not just sign it as {1A} going the other direction? =P Going east toward {1A}.
Left: Facing northwest on the Portland Connector. The intersection, and thus the signal, are not in service yet. MUTCD sez this is a no-no. Center: This is {1A} in Portland. A freaking surface street.             With the Portland Connector open, TO (295) would be better signed just to the left.             These Turnpike trailblazers can pop up in odd places: here the `pike is over 3 miles away as the crow flies.             This is right by the exit to the international ferry (currently not in operation)... but - why not I-95 as well? Right: Dig the vestigial arrow in the bottom half of the Turnpike trailblazer. South Portland, 2006-12-13
| This unique sign greets motorists coming to the top of Evans St at Highland Ave.
So.... ME-77 takes a left turn here? Nope - ME-77 is somewhere out in that direction. I could be wrong but IIRC the actual junction isn't even signed.
| Two signs on Cottage Rd, facing the Cape Elizabeth town line.
This is far removed from the Turnpike, and there's no more signage to direct you there. And truck route for WHAT? This's more winding, hilly, and residential than SR 77, and really only serves Fort Williams Park.
| Cottage Rd at the intersection with Broadway.
There's that damn TRUCK ROUTE sign again. So where's it go? Behind door #1, we have narrow streets, businesses, lights, and a tight roundabout. Behind door #2, we actually have access to Broadway and eventually the Turnpike. (Trucks are prohibited from the Casco Bay Bridge.) Behind door #3, Brodway peters out into residential areas, the waterfront, and the Portland Pipeline.

Route 196 in Topsham, 2006-12-30
Left: Leaving the Topsham Fair Mall. Heh. No shields. Right: Dig those Joisey stylee black borders!

Arrrr! Here be placeholders, matey!
| Portland: Is Park St considered a ramp from [77] to {1A}? | |
