Eastern Portland & Falmouth, ME - 2005-10-17

Thumbnails open the snaps in a new window. Close to return here.
The end of Watson St. in Portland.
Could this have been open to RIRO traffic in the Pre-295, US-1 East Deering Bypass days?
I've gotta get a better look at that sign the next time I'm around...

Immediately north of the Portland End of the Martin's Point bridge, the remnants of an older structure and some approach road.
I have no idea when it was in service. That's Mackworth Island and its causeway in the background in a couple shots.
Strangely, I've seen no evidence of this structure on the Falmouth side.

Martin's Point Bridge - w0ot!

An old section of US-1 parallel to the modern highway, to the west. Although it does have a couple buildings on it, the road name for this segment is not posted. A not-so-contiguous part of Foreside Rd, perhaps? The northern and southern openings have been closed (presumably since the terraserver aerial photo was taken), and all access is through Gisland Farm Rd. Upon entering, the only signage one sees are 2 LGSs for Hartford Ave and Providence Ave, to the North. The north end continues across from Foreside Rd / ME-88, with which it made up US-1 in the `40s.
