[136] Old ME-136
Freeport, ME - 2005-11-21

Prior to 1956, ME-136 followed Kendall Lane and True St. to its terminus at US-1 in Freeport. Construction of Interstate 95 (now I-295) disconnected these roads, and the route was extended further south along Durham Rd, and routed along the new Mallett Drive to US-1 / Main St.

Thumbnails open the snaps in a new window. Close to return here.

A closer view of the Kendall Tavern Inn and some signage.
Yeah really. Wot are these things, anyway?
Edit: I think there was a post on MTR identifying them as "node markers"?
I'm much too lazy to find the post again ATM.
A stump with a funky iron thing on the Inn's property.
This is art, dammit!

Looking across the interstate.
Aside from the house through the trees, there's not much visible evidence of True St. on the other side.
Looking SE on True St, toward its dead-end at I-295.
Looking through the trees, across I-295.
The end of Kendall Lane has been turned into a bit of a turnaround/parking area fo Freeport Middle School.
Beyond that, we see FMS's basketball courts.
Earthen barrier. Looking at True St's dead-end. Note the evidence of old pavement.
